Two women dead in road accidents

CEBU, Philippines -  Two women died after the motorcycles they were riding fi-gured in separate vehicular accidents in Cebu last Friday.

In Barangay Don Gregorio Antigua, Borbon, 20-year-old Mars Calsada died while her two companions Justinelou Valera, 18, and Marvin Mariot, 17, were injured after their motorcycle was hit by another motorcycle.

The victims reportedly came from a benefit dance and were heading home when the accident happened.

Christory Quilaton, 21, was also driving home and was tailing the victims when the latter’s motorcycle suddenly stopped. Not noticing it right away, Quilaton lost control of his motorcycle and hit the victims.

Because of the impact, all the victims were thrown onto the road and sustained injuries.

They were brought to Juan Dosado Memorial Hospital where Calsada was pronounced dead on arrival.

Meanwhile, in  Barangay Tal-ot, Barili, Avegail Ramos, 32, died while her two companions were in serious condition after the motorcycle they were also riding hit a metal post Friday noon.

Ramos, a resident of Barangay Gunting, died from severe injuries in the body while her companions RJ Barbon, 19, the driver of the motorcycle, and Angelica Lariosa, 16, were severely injured.

Initial investigation revealed that Barbon was driving the motorcycle when he allegedly lost control of the hand bar and hit into a metal warning post.

The three of them were thrown away from the motorcycle and were seriously injured.

They were brought to Pinamungajan District Hospital but Ramos was declared dead while Barbon and Lariosa were transferred to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City for further treatment. —NSA (FREEMAN)
