Police identify man with mutilated head, genitals

Bryner L. Diaz - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - A man and a woman have claimed that the dead body found in Barangay Biga, Toledo City whose head and genitals were mutilated was their brother’s.

In a telephone interview, Superintendent Ricky Delelis, Toledo City Police Station chief, said that dead man was identified as Alony Olasiman, 38, of Tuburan town by his brother, Ariel Olasiman and sister, Marites Abella.

Yesterday morning, Delelis said that the victim’s former live-in partner, Epefania Bajes, also went to the police station and told them that the dead person was Alony.

However, when police officers showed her the body of the victim, she said she was no longer sure if it was Alony because of the tattoo on his left chest. Delelis said that when Bajes last saw Alony, he did not have a tattoo yet.

Alony’s brother and sister later arrived in Toledo from Tuburan town and confirmed that it was their brother who went missing on Sunday.

With this development, Delelis said they know where the investigation is heading.

He said they will now backtrack to the victim’s path before he was killed to determine the perpetrator, as well as the motive behind his death.  Delelis said that investigators working on the case told him that witnesses disclosed that the victim was seen in the house of his former live-in partner before he went missing.

“Base sa giingon sa imbistigador nga prior sa incident nagkita pa ang duha, ang baye ug si Alony, pumunta sa bahay ni Bajes,” Delelis said.  He said that based on how the victim was killed it is possible that two or more people were responsible.

“More than one, duha o tulo mga ana gyud, base sa nakit-an nako nga picture makita nato nga hindi makaya ng iisang tao,” he explained.

Delelis believes that the person who killed the victim might have been harboring a deep grudge against him to have his head and genitals mutilated.

“Crime of passion, ingon ana gyud, kay kung imong huna-hunaon nganung iyang genital organ ang gitangtang, there is a message nga bout ipahiwatig sa criminal,” Delelis added.

He suspects that the head and genitals were buried somewhere around the area and that the killers were also from the same place.

Police though still can’t identify the suspects because of the lack of witnesses. He added that the nearest house from the crime scene is located 200 to 300 meters away.   (FREEMAN)
