CEBU, Philippines - The Provincial Board has commended the Cebu Provincial Police Office for bagging the Silver Eagle Award after passing the initiation stage of the Performance Governance System.

The commendation was made through a resolution sponsored by PB Member Arleigh Sitoy. The body also recognized the “remarkable efforts” of the CPPO headed by Senior Superintendent Noel Gillamac which earned them the award. The Camp Crame conferred the award to CPPO early last month.

PGS measures competence and performance of an organization which also allows government agencies to be assessed objectively to foster transparency and accountability.

CPPO was judged in four perspectives which include resource management, learning and growth, process excellence and community wherein it scored 96 percent.

It was also recognized as the police unit having the most number of firearms accounted and the unit with notable accomplishments in the campaign against illegal drugs wherein a certificate was given. Out of the 75 police units which presented their transformation plans, only 22 received the Silver Eagle Award.

Other awardees in Central Visayas are Siquijor, Bohol, Negros Oriental, Mandaue City, Dumaguete, Guihulngan, and the Regional Public Safety Battalion-7.

Senior Police Officer 1 Reynaldo Solante, team leader of the Provincial Intelligence Branch, was named Best Police Non-Commissioned Officer in the field of police operation while Chief Inspector Michael Anthony Bastes, Toledo City Police Station chief, was Best Police Commissioned Officer in the field of police investigation.— (FREEMAN)
