New MCWD GM to increase service coverage

CEBU, Philippines - The Metropolitan Cebu Water District has a new general manager who assumed office on July 4, 2014 with the retirement of its former general manager Armando H. Paredes.

Newly-appointed acting general manager Ernie T. Delco will oversee MCWD’s implementation of its projects in order to achieve its target to increase service coverage to 66 percent in 2020.

Delco, 48, has been working for the water district for 25 years.

He has held several positions before he was named as assistant general manager for operations in July 2003.

Delco is a licensed civil engineer and has completed a master’s degree in Business Management from the University of the Philippines in Cebu.

He undergone a number of trainings and seminars on water resources management, water demand management, non-revenue water management and several others conducted in different countries.

MCWD Board of Director Cynthia Barrit said they chose a leader whom the whole organization can trust.

“His heart and mind are for MCWD and we saw his strong faithfulness to the service of MCWD’s constituents which is the public and he is also looking at the welfare of the ordinary employees. That’s why we have the trust and confidence in this leader, the next general manager of MCWD, Engr. Ernie Delco,” Barrit said.

Meanwhile, MCWD consumers can now pay their bills at Nilmark Business Center in Barangay Dumlog, Talisay City.

The business center is open between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays thru Fridays and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays.

Nilmark is an online payment center, which means payments are automatically reflected in the MCWD system as if the consumer is paying directly at the water district’s main office.

MCWD has partnered with more payment centers in addition to its two sub-offices, 13 collecting banks and 18 payment centers for the convenience of its consumers.

Another customer-related initiative of MCWD is bill inquiry through text.
