Another greyhound eyed at CPDRC
CEBU, Philippines - The executive director of the Cebu Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council does not believe in the result of the recent greyhound operation conducted by the members of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency at the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center last Sunday.
Joey Herrera believes that the CPDRC inmates may have been warned about the greyhound operation, prompting them to clean their cells of any illegal items, especially drugs and its paraphernalia. PDEA personnel found nothing during the greyhound operation last Sunday.
“We would like to know kung giunsa pag-greyhound operation because there could be some lapses sa ilang pagpahigayon kay wala man sila nakita-an bisag usa,” Herera said.
According to Herrera, CPADAC will conduct another greyhound operation in the coming days. He said it is unlikely that drug paraphernalia and electronic gadgets were found in a cell during a surprise inspection few days before the greyhound while nothing was found when all 195 cells were searched.
“So kini nuon sa greyhound nga every cells wala jud nakuha,” Herrera said.
Herrera said there could be lapses in the conduct of the greyhound operation brought about also by the lack of coordination on the part of PDEA. Herrera said all cells should be inspected simultaneously to deny the inmates of the opportunity to hide whatever illegal items inside their cell.
“They can dispose it already inig abot sa 50 and 60 ka silda bisan naa pa greyhound wala jud na,” Herera said.
A suspected female drug pusher recently arrested in Liloan claimed to have gotten her supply from CPDRC. Jail officials also admitted having received intelligence report about the alleged involvement of at least five jail personnel in the illegal drug trade.— (FREEMAN)
