Man claiming motorcycle arrested for gun possession
CEBU, Philippines - A man who was claiming his motorcycle from the City Traffic Operations Management was placed under arrest for possessing an unlicensed firearm.
The man, Jose Ian Gomez, 31, of Danao City went to the CITOM office at around 3 a.m. yesterday an hour after his motorcycle was impounded for being unregistered.
Investigator Chady Jungoy said Gomez was caught entering a no entry zone in Junquera Street, Cebu City and it was then that CITOM personnel discovered he was driving an unregistered motorcycle.
Gomez then went to the CITOM office carrying with him a suspicious looking bag. Jungoy said Gomez looked uneasy at that time.
“Suspicious kaayo iyang nilihukan pagsulod sa opisina ug nakabantay dayon ko sa iyang bag nga murag naay makaduda’ng gaburot sa sulod,” Jungoy said.
Inspection yielded a .357 revolver for which Gomez reportedly failed to show a permit.
The firearm is now under CITOM’s custody while Gomez is in detention pending the filing of appropriate charges. —/JMO (FREEMAN)
