Mayor JVR richest official in Talisay

CEBU, Philippines - Talisay City Mayor Johnny De los Reyes is the richest among the Talisay City officials based on his Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth submitted before the Office of the Ombudsman-Visayas.

De los Reyes, a first termer, has P9.9 million net worth as of December 31, 2013. Net worth or actual wealth is a computation of one’s total assets minus their total liabilities.

De los Reyes declared P12.5 million of total assets composed of real properties and personal properties.

His real properties include residential lots in Tampilisan, Zamboanga de Norte and Bulacao, Talisay City; commercial cottages, a commercial building, a chapel, a basketball court in Gaas, Balamban; and a residential/industrial house in Bulacao.

His real properties are seven vehicles and two motorcycles, appliances, laboratory equipment and office supplies, furniture, books, magazines, jewelry, all communication devices, clothing, cash on hand and cash in bank.

De los Reyes declared P2.6 million liabilities that include bank loans and automobile loans.

Next to De los Reyes is Talisay City Association of Barangay Council president Raul Cabañero  with P6.5 million net worth.

He has P6.8 worth of real properties composed of lots and a building in Bulacao. His personal properties amounts to P720,000 including a television set, stereo, refrigerator and a Mitsubishi Strada. He declared P1 million in liabilities.

City councilor Doroteo Emit followed as the richest official of the city with P5.8 million net worth. He declared total assets of P6.3 million net worth composed of residential lots, a residential house and lot and vehicles.

He declared P636,288 in liabilities. He is connected with Aqua Cainta Resort in Talisay City and the Aqua Industrial and Agricultural Sales Corp. in Mandaue City. He also disclosed that his wife and his son are in the government service.

Emit was followed by City Councilor Edward Alesna with P5 million who has total assets of P5.4 million and liabilities of P391,200. Alesna is connected with Alesna Enterprises in Talisay City.

Vice Mayor Romeo Villarante landed in the fifth spot with P4.1 million net worth. He has P2.2 million in real properties including a house and lot, a building and lots and P2.1 million in personal properties including vehicles, computer and appliances, jewelry, cash and investment.

Villarante reported P200,000 in liabilities.

City Councilor Valeriano Ylanan followed with P3.9 million in net worth followed by City Councilor Danilo Caballero with P3.4 million net worth, City Councilor Richard Francis Aznar with P2.3 million, City Councilor Aldin Diaz with P2 million, City Councilor Dennis Basillote with P1.9 million, City Councilor Socrates Fernandez with P882,450 net worth and City Councilor Antonio Bacaltos, Jr. with P720,321.42 net worth.

Lastly, City Councilor Eduardo Gullas III has a net worth of P40,000. He declared that he has no real properties and his personal properties includes cash worth P40,000, a cellphone and a laptop. However, he said that the cellphone and laptop were gifts to him. He declared no liabilities and has no business interests and financial connections.

In his SALN, he listed his brother, Representative Gerald Anthony Gullas, Jr., who works in the government service.

Under the law, all government officials and employees are required to submit their SALN yearly. (FREEMAN)
