Head guard shot dead

Ria Mae Y. Booc - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The head security guard of a motorcycle distributor was gunned down by two unidentified men Friday evening in Sitio Paradise, Barangay Cogon, Compostela.

Rey Capuyan Bacod, 41, a resident of the place and head security guard of Norkis Yamaha Corporation died to multiple gunshot wounds in the body. Police tried to rush him to Danao Provincial Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the physician.

Police are now eyeing work-related and personal grudge as initial motives of the killing.

PO2 Emil Rubelia, desk officer, said that Bacod was walking home after he rendered duty at the company past 7:00 pm when the killing happened. He was just about 50 meters from the establishment when two men on board a motorcycle arrived and fired at him several times, hitting him in the head, face, and back portions of the body. Unidentified firearm with unknown caliber was used. There was no evidence recovered in the scene.

In the initial follow-up investigation of the police, they found out that Bacod was strict in terms of working ethics and regulations.

“Kung bahin na gani ug trabaho istrikto gyud ni siya mao na among gitan-aw kung naa ni siyay nakalalis previously,” Rubelia said in a phone interview.

Rubelia added that Bacod kicked out several security guards of the company for lapses which the police no longer elaborated.

“Daghan na ug napapahawa ug daghan na pud ug napadakop kung naay kawat-kawat sa opisina pero gawas ana amo pud gitan-aw kung duna ba sad ni siyay kontra sa gawas sa trabaho,” he said.

Bacod was absorbed in the company as regular head guard. He was in the position for 17 years. Bacod’s wife, however, mentioned a name that once had a misunderstanding with the victim, but he refused to discuss details pending evidence and investigation.  (FREEMAN)
