Call center summoned on attempt to pay another office’s obligations

CEBU, Philippines - Another Cebu-based call center company was summoned by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-7 to shed light on why it is the one paying for the unpaid salaries of Leadamorphosis employees.

Leadamorphosis was a call center that suddenly folded up last January without informing DOLE and its employees, who allegedly were not also paid their salaries and given separation fees.

Dennis Derige, coordinator of the employees’ group, said they were surprised to learn during a DOLE-7 hearing last week that Support Save was the one that would be paying the unpaid salaries of Leadamorphosis workers.

He said the terminated workers expected the management of Leadamorphosis, not Support Save, to give the remaining 70 percent of their salaries.

Marnick Unabia, president of the terminated workers, said they only received around a third of their Dec. 15 to 31, 2013 salary.

Sensing something fishy, the Leadamorphosis employees requested a DOLE-7 representative to go with them at Support Save in receiving their unpaid salaries.

“They (Support Save) were surprised to see nga nagdala mi og taga (we had with us somebody from) DOLE and they backed out. Wala nadayon ang pag panghatag sa (Support Save did not continue giving the) unpaid salaries,” Derige said.

He said that because of this, DOLE set a hearing this Wednesday for Support Save to shed light on this matter.

Derige said they heard that Support Save was the one that would take over Leadamorphosis’ operations.  (FREEMAN)
