CEBU, Philippines - Detainees of the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CDPRC), shows off again their creative side, this time not in dancing but in Christmas lantern-making.

Yesterday, the CPDRC inmates, who are known as the world-renowned dancing inmates, started making lanterns, which will be made available to anyone who wants to order.

Jail officers supervised the lantern-making of the detainees.

CPDRC inmate Lito Granada said that they have been accustomed to making lanterns every year since it serves as their fund-raising for their Christmas Party.

"Ang halin ani, amo ra pod ipuno sa among party inig December unsa ang gastuhan," he shared, adding they are making the lanterns at their own expense.

Last year, the lanterns were only sold to the jail guards.

Jail warden Romeo Manansala added that the money that will be earned from the lanterns will be deposited to the capitol as the inmates' trust fund.

"Mao ni ilang kuot-kuoton sa pasko, ilahang mga gastuonon," he said.

Also, Manansala disclosed that they submitted a proposal to the provincial government to allow the families and relatives of the inmates to stay in during Christmas Eve. "Malipayon gyod ni sila kay nia ilang pamilya aning panahona."— (BANAT NEWS)
