Healthy for Halloween duty CITOM enforcers get vaccinated

CEBU, Philippines - In preparation for the upcoming activities like the barangay elections and the observance of All Saints Day, more than a hundred traffic enforcers were vaccinated yesterday with anti-flu vaccine.

Of the total 230 enforcers, 116 were among the first batch of City Traffic Operations Management (CITOM) enforcers vaccinated by City Health Department officers.

CITOM operations head Joy Tumulak said the second batch will be within the month, depending on the availability of vaccine shots at the CHD.

“Lisud man pud ug dunganon nato sila kay dili mabiyaan ang ilang assigned posts. Ang bakuna mag-ensure nga healthy ang atong mga enforcers especially sa umaabot nga election, Kalag-kalag, pasko ug uban pa,” Tumulak said.

Around November last year, the same vaccine was given to enforcers still aiming to ensure health of traffic enforcers deployed to man traffic around busy streets in the city.

Tumulak also met yesterday nine CITOM supervisors and 20 inspectors to particularly brief them with the upcoming All Saints and All Souls days observance.

“Nag final meeting mi ganina (Friday) para sa Kalag-kalag. Parehas ra last year ang rerouting nga atong ipatuman. We will be coordinating with our counterparts in Mandaue City to discuss CEMPARK since the two cities share access roads to and from the cemetery,” Tumulak said.

CITOM will ask Mandaue City Traffic Management Office to regulate parking at the side of their exit to avoid the same congestion experienced last year.

Meanwhile, normal traffic flow was momentarily interrupted along Osmeña Boulevard yesterday noon as spilt oil scattered at the road causing minor injuries after at least four motorcycle units fell out of balance.

CITOM enforcer Alberto Illustrisimo, Jr. of Task Force Trisikad and his team chanced to pass by the area when they learned of the spilt oil at the portion opposite the Visayas Community Medical Center near Urgello street.

“Miagi mi dinhi kay gikan mi nag confiscate ug trisikad. Gitawag mi sa standby nga naa lagi daw naaksidente nga motorcycle tungod sa aceite nga naa sa karsada. Nangutana mi ug unsa nga sakyanan ang nakausik ani, wala pud sila nakabantay,” Illustrisimo said.

Cebu City Fire Department was immediately alerted by CITOM upon learning of the oil causing inconvenience to vehicles taking Osmeña Boulevard.

Firemen arrived 15 minutes after the alarm and sprayed water to remove the oil from the road and traffic returned to normal flow a few minutes after. — /GMR (FREEMAN)
