CEBU, Philippines - Out of forty cameras installed at Marcelo Fernan and Mactan-Mandaue bridges, half of them were found to be offline and defective.

Traffic and security monitoring system (TSMS) computer analyst Leo Bacus presented yesterday during the Mactan-Cebu Bridge Management Board meeting the status of the cameras.

Marcelo Fernan Bridge has 11 defective cameras the Mactan-Mandaue Bridge has nine defective cameras.

Bacus said that they already repaired those that they can reach but explained that they cannot repair those cameras installed on the top most of the two bridges because they lack equipment, machineries and manpower.

Bacus told MCBMB that he already sent request for the needed materials for repairing and replacements of the defective devices to the Provincial Planning Development Office (PPDO).

MCBMB has advised Bacus to tap the agency who installed the cameras.

Provincial Treasurer Manny Guial said that MCBMB has more than P5.6 million funds for this year.

This will be utilized in the procurement of materials, safety devices and maintenance of the two bridges.  (FREEMAN)
