Forum on HR management set

CEBU, Philippines - Aimed at understanding and appreciating the different performance management systems, a symposium for human resource and organization development practitioners in the public and private sectors is set on July 17 and 18 in Cebu City.

The HR Symposium 2013 dubbed as “Performance Management: Strategies and Breakthroughs” also aims to serve as a venue to share best practices of these systems.

The event is the first in the series of big scale learning sessions organized by the Civil Service Commission’s (CSC) training and research arm, the Civil Service Institute (CSI), through the support of Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID), in a press statement.

Leading the roster of international experts is world-renowned consultant in human resource development Dr. William Rothwell along with Dr. Les Picket of Pacific Rim Consulting and Ong Teong Wan of Management Wise International.

Completing the plenary speakers are Budget and Management Secretary Florencio Abad and CSC Director Azucena Esleta.

HR practitioners in the public and private sectors, on the other hand, will tackle actual experiences in performance management in the concurrent sessions.

Deputy executive Secretary Cora Oliveros will discuss the Results-Based Performance Management System, Department of Education Undersecretary Rizalino Rivera will discuss on Competency-Based Performance Management System (PMS) and Department of Labor and employment Director Katherine Brimon will tackle on Championing and Cascading the Strategic PMS.

Other speakers are Agusan del Sur Governor Adolf Edward Plaza who will discuss on Making the Performance Scorecard Work, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Director Elvira Lorica on  Performance  rewarding and Development Planning and Commission on Higher Education Director Carmina Alonzo on Performance Coaching and Mentoring.

Discussants from the private sector include Manila Electric Company (MERALCO) Senior Vice President Angelita Atanacio on Linking Performance Management to Strategic Plan, Investors in people Chief Gerardo Plana on Aligning Individual and Organizational Performance Targets and former Senior manager of Johnson and Johnson Philippines Marie Franco on Performance Rewarding and Development Planning. — (FREEMAN)
