Guard shot dead, pal injured

CEBU, Philippines - A security guard died while his companion was injured after they were allegedly abducted and shot at by four unidentified armed men in Medellin, Cebu.

Rodulfo Misa, 41, of Sitio Flores, Barangay Malbago, Daanbantayan died of several gunshot wounds in different parts of his body while his friend Marvin Ostia, 24, is now fighting for his life at the Bogo District Hospital.

The victims came from a benefit dance in Barangay Malbago and were heading for Barangay Tindog, Medellin on board a motorcycle. However, the motorcycle tire exploded forcing them to leave the motorcycle at a barangay outpost and decided to walk their way to Barangay Tindog.

But, a green car with four unidentified armed men passed by them and forced them to board the vehicle. They were taken to Sitio Lutsa, Barangay Caputatan Sur, Medellin at gunpoint where they were shot several times.

Misa died on the spot while Ostia was able to crawl and asked help. Police Officer 2 Rosilito Ortega, homicide investigator, said that Ostia could not recognize the gunmen.

Ostia claimed to have been ordered by the gunmen to look down all the time.

The police are still facing blank wall in their investigation on the possible motive behind the attack and the people behind it.— (FREEMAN)
