Rama regulates Sinulog bleachers

Jessica Ann R. Pareja - The Philippine Star

CEBU, Philippines - Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama reminded establishments along the 5.8-km carousel route that they cannot put up bleachers other than the ones to be constructed by the Cebu Contractors Association, Inc.

If private property owners insist, he told them they must secure a permit from the Office of the Building Officials (OBO) and the Office of the Mayor.

The CCAI initially listed 13 locations for the bleachers along the carousel route.

These are along Sacred Heart Boys High, Jollibee-Gorordo, Love City Disco area, Metrobank-Mango, Mango Square, Yamaha-Mango Square area, Fuente Rotunda, Rajah Park Hotel, Manila Bulletin property, Fuente Police Station, Samsung Service Center-Jones, Sto. Rosario Church to the University of San Carlos Main Campus and Sto. Rosario Ladies’ Home along P. del Rosario Street.

The judges’ stations are initially to be placed along Sacred Heart Boys High, Rajah Park Hotel and Manila Bulletin property along Osmeña Blvd. The bleacher at the Fuente Police Office is for exclusive use of the PNP.

Participating contractors are the WTG Construction, FRASEC Development, Hilton, Solid Construction, Dakay Construction, PLD Construction, Soccor Construction, ACD Construction, DGL, Roden Construction, Venray Construction, AA Masong Construction, JJ and J Construction, Gonzaludo Construction, ACS Trucking, Konsult Construction, among others.

The city government wants to limit the number of bleachers this year so there will be more space for the millions of revelers expected to attend the Sinulog Grand Parade on Sunday. — (FREEMAN)
