CEBU, Philippines - Mayor Michael Rama has assured that members of the Barangay Intelligence Network who served as auxiliary guards in City Hall will receive their honorarium this month for the months that they were not paid last year.
Philipp Zafra, chief of staff of the Office of the Mayor, explained that the BIN members only received their honorarium equivalent to one month last December because the documents for the other months have not been processed yet.
City accountant Diwa Cuevas also confirmed that because the approval of the Supplemental Budget No. 2 was only made shortly before Christmas, the processing of the documents was not immediately done because City Hall personnel were already attending to Christmas-related activities.
“Karon ako na nga gipaspasan pagpa-process ang ilang dukomento aron madawat na sa mga BIN ang nahabilin nila nga honorarium,†said Cuevas.
Some of the BIN members earlier said they believe that even if the City Council already approved the P5-million budget, where their honorarium is included, Rama will only give them honorarium equivalent to one month.
About 100 BIN members who were assigned to different areas of City Hall and other departments, including public plazas, were not paid their honorarium from April to August last year because the General Service Office was short on budget.
Zafra said they are trying their best so that the P3,000 monthly honorarium of the BIN members can be released to each of them days from now. — (FREEMAN)
