Men fire at party, 2 hurt
CEBU, Philippines - Two people, one of them a 14-year-old girl, were injured after two unidentified men opened fire at a group of people having a Christmas party around 2 a.m. yesterday in Sitio Bhokyol Dapdap, Barangay Poblacion III, Carcar City.
Nestor Pantilgan Quijano, 44, of Barangay Valencia, sustained two gunshot wounds to his left arm while the girl also sustained two gunshot wounds to her buttock and right thigh.
The victims were rushed to the Carcar Emergency Hospital but were later referred to a hospital in Cebu City for further treatment. Police revealed that victims, along with their other relatives, were having a Christmas party when suddenly two assailants arrived and shot at them. Both then fled on foot right after the incident.
Insp. Cecilio Pañares, Carcar City deputy chief, said they are still investigating the shooting since both victims did not have enemies.
“Sa among tan-aw mura ra gyud ni’g paregla kay pag-abot ngadto nagpabuto unya nanagan ra pud dayon kuno,” Pañares said.
Police also suspected that assailants used revolvers because no shells or slugs were recovered at the crime scene. Intelligence operatives are still investigating the incident to identify the two assailants.
Meanwhile, a man who was believed to have been electrocuted was found dead in Sitio Caipilan, Barangay Poblacion 1, Carcar City last Sunday afternoon.
The body of the victim, Mark Lester Relente, 30, of the said barangay, was found by Edgardo Tampus, who was repairing an electric post at the time.
Police are now investigating if Relente was involved in theft incidents in the area after they recovered a bag containing three fighting cocks, a cutter, a gray T-shirt, a white ballcap and a wallet containing identification cards. - /BRP (FREEMAN)
