CEBU, Philippines - An owner of a water refilling station in San Fernando was shot dead Saturday morning by still unidentified gunman.

The victim, Jacinto Sarucam, 80, of Barangay Balud, San Fernando died of a gunshot wound in the neck.

Sarucam was opening his water refilling station when he got shot by a motorcycle-riding gunman.

The victim was rushed to Carcar City District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Sr. Insp. Gerard Pelare, San Fernando police chief, said that residents nearby hear a single gunfire before the victim was found bloodied.

The witnesses saw a motorcycle-riding man believed to be the assailant fleeing from the crime scene but did not recognize his face.

The police found a spent shell for 9mm pistol at the crime scene.

Pelare said the gunman was waiting for the victim who usually opens his refilling station at dawn.

“Giatngan ni daan sa gawas kay sayo man gyud ni mangabli ang tag-iya una pusila (the gunman waited for the victim to open his water refilling station,” Pelare said.

Personal grudge is being eyed by the police as possible motive in the killing.

The family of Sarucam told the police investigators that the victim scolded the carolers who went to their house last Christmas.

“Ang na-mention lang nila kay kung nay manaygon masuko kuno ni siya pero kung para nako mabaw ra pud na nga rason,” Pelare said.  (FREEMAN)
