Nursing attendant hangs self at VSMMC
CEBU, Philippines - A nursing attendant at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center committed suicide inside a vacant room in the hospital.
Anastacio Tabanao, 59, single, a stay-in nursing attendant and a resident of Balabagon Moalboal, was found dead by his co-worker Arnold Faunillan at around 5:00 a.m. yesterday.
Faunilla was about to use the comfort room when he saw Tabanao hanging from the window beam inside the vacant room. Tabanao used an extension cord to tie around his neck.
SPO1 Ruth Violango said they found a hand written note of Tabanao addressed to a certain Ritchil. The note says: “To: Richil ATM Naa sa uniform puti.” Another note was written on his notebook which says, “Very sorry my good friends! St. Peter.”
Violango believes that Tabanao’s health condition prompted him to commit suicide.
“Ang ilang pagduda, tungod naa naman ni siyay gipamati sa lawas, diabetic ni siya, unya high blood. Actually nakit-an nato sud sa iyang kwarto sa silong daghan na siyag gi-maintain nga tambal,” Violango said.
Initial investigation shows no external injury and sign of struggle that would suggest foul play.
