Gwen belies claiming doleouts
CEBU, Philippines - Governor Gwendolyn Garcia denied the allegation of Liberal Party gubernatorial candidate Hilario Davide III that she is claiming the financial aid she is distributing to towns and barangays as her own.
“I just wish to categorically deny that I ever said gikan na nako, that’s an outright lie,” Garcia told reporters.
Davide earlier quoted Garcia as saying, “para ninyo kini gikan kanako,” over Sugbo TV, the Capitol’s television channel, in a distribution activity held in one of the towns.
But Garcia said what she told the people that the assistance is from the provincial government.
“It seems nga kining pamakak has become the order of the day niining tandem ni Davide ug ni Magpale,” she said.
Davide of the Liberal Party is running for governor against Garcia’s brother, third district Rep. Pablo “PJ” Garcia of One Cebu, in the 2013 elections.
Davide’s runningmate, Vice Governor Agnes Magpale of Barug Alang sa Kauswagan ug Demokrasya (Bakud), is running against her nephew, former Danao City vice mayor Ramon “Boboy” Durano IV.
Davide also questioned Pablo John and Durano’s presence in the distribution of financial assistance by Gov. Garcia saying the act is scandalous and indecent.
Pablo John and Durano also attended the general assembly of mayors, vice mayors and barangay captains of the entire Province of Cebu yesterday.
Fourth district Rep. Benhur Salimbangon endorsed the Garcia-Durano tandem before the almost a thousand of audience at the Cebu International Convention Center in Mandaue City.
Salimbangon assured that his leaders in the fourth district will deliver victory for the Garcia-Durano tandem.
Pablo John assured the local officials that he will continue what his sister has done to the barangays.
Gov. Garcia hosted the general assembly as her opportunity to thank the mayors, vice mayors and barangay officials who supported her for almost nine years’ and in making Cebu the number one province in the country.
Garcia’s three terms as governor will end on June 30, 2013. — (FREEMAN)
