Comelec to give priority lane to cops
CEBU, Philippines - Members of the police force will be given a special lane by the Commission on Election (Comelec) at 1 p.m. today as the office cannot hold an offsite registration for them.
Election Officer Marchel Sarno said this is upon the request of the PNP because some of their personnel cannot stay long at the Comelec to register as they have duties to attend to in their respective assignments.
The special lane for the PNP is separate from the lane for persons with disabilities and senior citizens and for ordinary registrants.
The special lane will be opened at 1 p.m. today as Sarno noticed that only few come to the Comelec in the afternoon to register.
Comelec will not have an offsite registration for the PNP to maximize their time.
The Comelec office closes every time they hold offsite registration.
The deadline of registration for the May 13, 2013 election is on October 31.
Comelec advised those who are unregistered to go to the Comelec now because there will be no extension for the registration.
Sarno earlier said extension will not be allowed since the public has been given almost three years to register or update their registration. (FREEMAN)
