CEBU, Philippines - Chief Supt. Marcelo Garbo stays as director of Police Regional Office 7 amid reports that he will be transferred to Camp Crame.
This was according to the Philippine National Police chief Nicanor Bartolome yesterday.
Bartolome said Garbo is very qualified for a higher position at Camp Crame but he decided to let Garbo stay as he needs to continue his program in Central Visayas.
Garbo authored the Police Integrated Patrol System (PIPS) which is being adopted in all regional police offices in the country.
Garbo, who assumed as PRO 7 director in September last year, is a former executive officer of the Directorate for Operations in Camp Crame.
He replaced Chief Supt. Ager Ontog who was transferred to Camp Crame as requested by the PNP Chief.
There are also talks that Cebu City Police Office director Melvin Ramon Bueanfe and Mandaue City Police Office director Noel Gillamac will be reassigned as they have completed their two-year tour of duty.
But Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama wants Buenafe to stay.
Bartolome explained that it is not necessary for a police officer to be transferred after his two-year tour of duty as long as he is performing his job. — (FREEMAN)
