Farmer hacked to death

CEBU, Philippines - A 32-year-old farmer died after he was hacked by his two neighbors while cultivating his farm at Sitio Gingkamote, Barangay Captain Claudio, Toledo City, late last Sunday afternoon.

Silverio Allecer, who sustained lacerated hack wounds in his neck, managed to run to his father and ask for help before he died.

Police are yet to determine the motive of the two suspects, Teody Resane and Diosdado “Jake” Cabilles, who immediately fled on foot right after the incident.

Allecer was reportedly at his farm cultivating the soil which will be used in planting corn.

It was at this juncture when Resane arrived, armed with a scythe, with Cabilles who was also armed with a bolo. The two then hacked Allecer in the neck.

While suspects chased him, Allecer managed to run towards his father, Martin Allecer, who was nearby helping harvest their neighbor’s corn crops.

Allecer arrived and informed his father that Resane and Cabilles wanted to kill him.

When the suspects caught up with him, they threatened his father, Martin, and even asked if he will help his son. They then fled on foot.

PO3 Benedicto Bobiles Jr. told The FREEMAN that the motive of the crime is difficult to determine because none in the area has a negative comment against Allecer.

“Di man sad kuno ni sila kontra kay wa man ni bangi kuno sukad sa una,(They said the suspects and victim never had any conflict before.)” Bobiles said in a phone interview.

Neighbors of the victim alleged that Resane gets violent every time he is under the influence of liquor but the police could not determine if Resane was drunk at that time.

Resane’s wife died two months ago which possibly contributed to his depression.

Bobiles said they still have to check if Resane and Cabilles have pending cases in court.

Police are hunting down the suspects and determining the real motive for killing Allecer. An appropriate criminal case is being prepared against the suspects.

The body now lies at the St. Francis Funeral Homes and is scheduled for autopsy.  (FREEMAN)
