CEBU, Philippines - One died and two others were injured in separate vehicular accidents in the component cities of Carcar and Naga yesterday morning.

Juanillo Wamilda, 28, of Barangay Poblacion I, Carcar City, died of severe injuries in different parts of his body after the motorcycle he was riding was hit by a bus around 3:30 in the morning.

Wamilda was on board his Honda Wave 100cc motorcycle bearing plate number 3641GG and was traveling on the national highway of Barangay Poblacion I when the incident happened.

He was rushed to the Carcar Provincial Hospital for medical attention but the attending physician declared him dead a few minutes later.

The driver of the Ceres bus with plate number GXS-668, Jose Dadles, 36, of Barangay Mantalungon, Dalaguete, is now detained at the Carcar City stockade pending the filing of a criminal case

Prior to the incident, Wamilda was reportedly heading towards Carcar Public Market from Barangay Poblacion I while the bus was headed for Bato, Oslob, from Cebu City.

Upon reaching a curved portion of the road, the bus allegedly encroached on the opposite lane where the motorcycle was traveling.

Dadles lost control of the steering wheel causing him to hit Wamilda.

Meanwhile, two were injured shortly before midday when the motorcycle they were riding hit a prime mover after overtaking another vehicle on the national highway of Barangay Tinaan, Naga City.

SPO1 Arturo Andales, responding officer, said Abel Abellana, 33, of Barangay Pasil, Cebu City, is in critical condition due to severe injuries in the head. His live-in partner, Laarni Menguito, 31, of the same place, only suffered bruises.

Abellana was taken to the South General Hospital for immediate medical attention.

The victims were reportedly on board a Honda Wave motorcycle with plate number 7701IS bound for Cebu City from Carcar City when the accident happened.

Andales said Abellana, who was driving the motorcycle, reportedly overtook another vehicle causing him to encroach on the other lane where the Fuso prime mover, bearing plate number GXL-932, was traveling.

The prime mover was driven by Julio Santiana, 54, of Poblacion, Zamboanguita, Negros Oriental, who was heading towards Carcar City at that time.

Andales was patrolling the area with a companion when they saw the victims on the road. They then took them to the hospital.

Police are now preparing appropriate charges against Santiana who is detained at the Naga City stockade.

Meanwhile, a farmer was shot dead by his neighbor while having a drinking session in Sitio Lugsangan, Barangay Tabon, Dalaguete, Wednesday evening.

Luis Bornea, 40, was shot twice by Ireneo Purgatorio, in the middle of their altercation.

Bornea succumbed to gunshot wounds in the head and in the right shoulder causing his immediate death.

The victim reportedly just came from a fiesta celebration in Barangay Butong, Badian, when he decided to buy a case of beer at a store owned by Rogelia Payusan.

He was having a drinking session together with some companions when Purgatorio arrived. Due to drunkenness, Purgatorio and Bornea had an altercation.

Purgatorio suddenly pulled out an undetermined caliber of firearm and shot Bornea twice.

Purgatorio is now the subject of a manhunt operation after he eluded arrest. - THE FREEMAN
