CEBU, Philippines - Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama is unfazed by the rumored reconciliation between the Osmeñas and the Garcias, a move that is seen to strengthen the Bando Osmeña Pundok Kauswagan (BOPK) this coming elections.
“Let’s just wait when that happens,” Rama said.
He added that he does not see it as any threat at all.
Raymond Garcia, son of former Mayor Alvin Garcia, said in a report that their family is open to a reconciliation with Rep. Tomas Osmeña (Cebu City South).
Osmeña and Alvin were former allies but their relationship turned sour during Garcia’s stint as Cebu City Mayor.
Reports said that Raymond may join BOPK as one of its candidates.
Osmeña however remain tight-lipped about it but said anything is possible in politics.
When Rama bolted from BOPK over a year ago, he admitted meeting with some of the members of the Kugi Uswag Sugbo (KUSUG), the group that Alvin formed when he cut ties with BOPK.
Rama also mentioned earlier that he is working with Alvin on some projects like coastal development.
Some of KUSUG’s members and supporters are also part of Team Rama like Lahug barangay Councilor Mary Ann delos Santos, Sambag I Barangay Captain Jerry Guardo and Agsungot Barangay Captain Pastor Alcover Jr.
Team Rama is the group formed by Rama when he left BOPK and came up with his own line up for next year’s election.
There was, however, no formal coalition between KUSUG and Team Rama.
