Man accused of robbing OFW in Danao arrested
CEBU, Philippines - Police arrested an armed man who was later found out to be one of those who robbed an Overseas Filipino Worker of her cash and valuables in Barangay Patag, Danao City, last Friday night.
Roger Doncillo, alias “Agaw-agaw”, will not only face charges for illegal possession of firearms but for robbery as well.
Robbery victim Apple Jane Juntilla, 20, an OFW who just returned to the country, pointed to him as the one who robbed her of her shoulder bag along with two other men.
Juntilla said she was walking in Sitio Manlayag, Barangay Patag, around 8 p.m. when Doncillo and two other men riding on a motorcycle arrived and stopped in front of her.
One of the men pointed a gun at her and declared a hold-up
Doncillo was the one who allegedly took the victim’s shoulder bag that contained P9,000 cash and cellular phone worth P7,000.
Juntilla immediately reported the incident to the Danao City Police Station.
Policemen responded to the scene of the crime but they failed to arrest the robbers.
PO2 Rosello Campo of Danao City Police Station said they then learned that an armed man was arrested at a checkpoint conducted by the Liloan police.
It turned out to be Doncillo, a resident of Barangay Cogon Cruz.
Campo said the victim was taken to the Liloan Police Station to see the suspect and positively identified him as the one who took her bag.
“Gi-identify siya sa biktima na siya ang usa sa mga nanulis. Siya daw ang nagkuha sa iyang bag,” Campo said.
There was no sign of the victim’s bag.
Campo said Doncillo later told them his accomplices in the robbery were his brothers. (FREEMAN)
