CEBU, Philippines - Two men died including the driver of the oil tanker in a road accident on the national road of Sitio Tambis, Barangay Poog, Toledo City late in the afternoon yesterday.
One of the fatalities was identified as Rowen Casas, 30, of Barangay Cambanay, Danao City and driver of the Isuzu oil tanker bearing GWZ-893 owned by the Pilipinas Transport Inc. located in V. Gullas St., Cebu City.
Casas died after he was thrown out of the driver’s seat due to the strong impact which caused him severe injuries.
Also, Jonathan Rabanes, 29, a resident of the said place and a laborer, died when the pillar of the perimeter fence he was working on fell on him.
Casas was traveling down a curve when the brakes of the Isuzu oil tanker truck malfunctioned. The truck rammed the perimeter fence of the Sacred Heart Parish which was being worked on.
Casas was supposed to transport the oil to the Tsuneishi Heavy Industries Inc. in Balamban town.
Rabanes was working on the fence when the truck rammed it.
The victims died on the spot and were taken to the Saint Francis Funeral Homes.
A crane of the Carmen Copper Corporation pulled out the tanker from the sari-sari store to clear area. – (FREEMAN)
