Man wounded fighting armed juvenile robber
CEBU, Philippines - A man was shot in the abdomen after refusing to give his money and cellular phone to a robber, believed to be a minor, in Felina Village, Barangay Tisa, around 1:30 a.m. yesterday.
The robber, believed to be about 14 to 16 years old, shot Albert Sornido, 25, a resident of F. Llamas St. after he failed to get his valuables.
Sornido said he was walking beside the road when someone whistled at him to get his attention.
The victim stopped and turned to see the minor pointing a gun at him and demanding his money and cellular phone.
Sornido tried to grab the robber’s gun but the robber pushed him away and shot him once before leaving the area with another man who was wearing a yellow t-shirt.
The victim went home and sought help from his brother, Jason Sornido, who rushed him to the Cebu City Medical Center.
SPO1 Ruth Violango, Homicide Section investigator, said the victim is now in stable condition.
Three hours later, an 18-year-old ex-convict was seriously wounded after an unidentified man shot at him and his friends along Humabon St., Barangay Carreta.
Police identified the victim as Argie Bildosola, a resident of Sitio Villagonzalo II, Barangay Tejero, who was recently released from the Cebu City Jail where he served time for theft.
The suspect was described as slim and was wearing a yellow t-shirt and riding on a bicycle.
Homicide investigation showed that the victim was with his friends only identified as “Along”, “Opaw”, “BG”, and another man sitting by the roadside while looking for scrap materials when a man on a bicycle came and suddenly shot at them. The victim, shot in the left side of his face and left portion of his back, still managed to go home and was taken to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center for treatment.
His companions were unhurt.
Violango believes that the shooting is related to the illegal gathering of scrap materials by the victim and his friends.
“Nangutana sad mi sa mga residente didto, ingon sila na mga kawatan daw ‘tong mga bataa,” Violango said.(FREEMAN)
