CEBU, Philippines - Two people died in separate shooting incidents in Talisay City over the weekend.
Joselito Labang of Sitio Kasagingan, Barangay Lawaan III and Nestor Ortega of Barangay Candulawan were both declared dead on arrival at the Talisay City District Hospital.
Labang, 40, an electrician, was shot dead by his neighbor Apolonio Callino, 42, after a fistfight.
Police Officer 3 Juanito Macabenta said the incident stemmed from a simple request from Callino to lower the volume of the videoke machine used by the victim as it was already past 11:00 p.m.
But instead of heeding the request, Labang allegedly got mad at his neighbor. A heated argument ensued, escalated into a fistfight that ended up Callino shooting Labang several times.
Thirty minutes later, another shooting incident was reported in Barangay Lawaan II. Ortega, 42, driver of Queensland KTV bar was shot dead by still unidentified assailant.
The police said Ortega was on duty at the bar when the assailant arrived and shot at the victim without any provocation. A video footage caught by the bar’s CCTV camera shows the culprit wearing black pants and a jacket.
The police recovered three empty shells of .45 caliber pistol, one deformed slug and a knife. — THE FREEMAN
