TF Foundation feeds hundreds during Kapamilya Halad
CEBU, Philippines - More than a thousand people availed of a feeding program conducted by The FREEMAN Foundation during the Grand Halad Sa Kapamilya of ABS-CBN Regional Network Group yesterday at the jam-packed Cebu Normal University-Main Campus in Osmeña Blvd., Cebu City.
A total of 1,700 people received food from the TF Foundation. It was the biggest crowd so far in their three years of partnership with ABS-CBN, according to TF human resource manager Jess Padin.
“It exceeded our expectation. We were only targeting a thousand but more people were coming over and lined up, so we were adding more because we aimed at feeding all the people participating in the Grand Halad sa Kapamilya,” he said.
“We were very early in coming here because we knew for sure that there are a lot of people who will really come early to be entertained first and we were not wrong. Most of these people came from the different provinces and we want to feed them,” he added.
Their first partnership with ABS-CBN was held at Abellana National School and then at the University of the Visayas-Gullas College, where they only fed less than a thousand people.
TF general manager, Melandro Mendoza, who was the chief cook, said that they first had 1,200 styrofoam cups ready for the special noodles and bread served for the people, from far flung provinces, who went early to the said venue.
But it fell short, so they added another 500 styrofoam cups because there were still more people coming.
“We don’t mind with the expenses that we allotted for this program as long as we were able to feed the people and see them filled and happy. We’re also happy with that,” he said.
Aside from Mendoza and Padin, TF Foundation members Ben Marcojos, Mary Ann Rosaroso, AJ Dela Torre, Joseph Dematera, Dick Batucan, Janet Montenegro, Christian Gequilan and Racquillo Codilla were present yesterday and helped in the feeding.
Yesterday’s Grand Halad Sa Kapamilya included activities like free giving of books a photography workshop, a hosting workshop and free medical and dental services.
TF Foundation’s next activities will be the Christmas with Angels and other Christmas activity tie-ups with Shangri-la Hotel and Plantation Bay Resort. – (FREEMAN)
