Archdiocese to start catechesis next week
CEBU, Philippines - The Archdiocese of Cebu will get busy starting next week as it starts the catechesis, one of the important parts in the preparation for the Canonization of Blessed Pedro Calungsod.
Episcopal vicar Msgr. Esteban Binghay said they will conduct seminars to all lay faithful, facilitators and formators of the respective parishes in Cebu from July to August. Binghay said it is important to teach the Catholic youths on the relevance of Pedro Calungsod and the relevance of his canonization to the lives of every Filipino.
“They will undergo the seminar and share what they have learned to the parishioners in their respective parishes and chapels,” Binghay said.
During the catechesis, Msgr. Ildebrando Leyson, postulator and co-chairman of the Commission on Blessed Pedro Calungsod, will talk on the catechetical primer on the life, martyrdom and glorification of Calungsod.
Binghay, on the other hand, will speak about Blessed Pedro Calungsod and the Mission and Msgr. Dennis Villarojo will deliver a talk about Blessed Pedro Calungsod and New Evangelization.
Pilgrims who are to join the canonization rites may also attend the one day seminar. Binghay said parish priests are also encouraged to attend.
The catechesis will be held July 7 to August 30 in the seven districts, including the two sub-districts, in Cebu.
These include District I on July 7 with the Archdiocesan Shrine of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus at D. Jakosalem Street, Cebu City as the venue; District II at the Archdiocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes in Punta Princesa, Cebu City on July 14; District III at the Archdiocesan Shrine of St. Michael the Archangel in Argao town on July 21; and District IV at St. Joseph Parish in Sangi, Alegria town on July 28.
No venue has been set yet for District V seminar on August 4.
On August 11, the same seminar will be held at District VI at Archdiocesan Shrine of San Vicente Ferrer in Bogo City and on August 18 in District VII (no venue yet).
The same seminar will also be conducted on sub-districts like Bantayan Island on August 13, and in Camotes Island on August 30. No venues have been set yet for their own seminars but the Archdiocesan Catechetical Commission has assured to post more schedules in the coming weeks.— (FREEMAN)
