Man shot dead, spat over drugs eyed as motive

CEBU, Philippines - A man was shot dead by his neighbor in Barangay Carreta Monday afternoon following an argument over illegal drugs.

Godly Inting, 30, of Sitio Ponce in the said barangay, succumbed to a single gunshot wound in the chest. He was declared dead by his attending physician at the Cebu Doctor’s Hospital where he was rushed after having shot by Danilo Alcachupas, 30, at 4:30 p.m.

The victim was walking on the alley when the suspect, whom he had an argument with early on, shot him in the chest using an improvised shotgun or “pugakhang”.

Leanme Matibagon, 18, victim’s live-in partner, said that prior to the shooting her partner had an argument with a certain Opao allegedly over an illegal drugs.

The suspect joined in the argument which was later pacified by a barangay tanod. Unknown to the victim, Alcachupas was still harboring ill-feelings towards him.

The suspect went home to get a shot gun and shot the victim in the chest. Responding policemen from the Mobile Patrol Group failed to arrest the suspect.

Meanwhile, a househelp is in critical condition because of electric shock.

Ledio Caingles Jr., 20, was fixing the television antenna of his employer in Barangay Basak-Pardo at 1:30 p.m. Monday when he accidentally touched a high tension wire.

Caingles fell on the pavement and suffered serious injuries. He was rushed to Chong Hua Hospital where he is confined.–(FREEMAN)
