Duljo shooting kills two
CEBU, Philippines - At least two people, including a 14-year-old boy, were killed in a shooting incident in Duljo-Fatima, Cebu City last night.
The victims were identified as Cornelio Ramos, 44, of sitio San Pedro and Romel Larisma of Sitio Buli, both of the same barangay.
Reports said two unidentified gunmen opened fire at Ramos, a paralytic, who was walking around 7: 15 p.m., killing the victim on the spot.
Larisma, who was sitting nearby, was hit by a stray bullet in the head and was also killed on the spot.
Witnesses said that before incident, the gunmen were following Ramos. Moments later, the gunmen took turns in shooting the victim, who sustained three gunshot wounds to his head and back. Ramos’ live-in partner, Grace Mancao, told The FREEMAN that she heard gunshots moments after the victim left their house to buy medicine.
She said they were preparing to sleep when Ramos decided to leave. “Gikan pa gyud siya nanghapnig sa among higdaanan una pa siya milakaw,” Mancao said.
Larisma and his pregnant sister, Mae, were sitting on a bench inside their sari-sari store 30 feet away when he was hit by a stray bullet.
Responding policemen, who recovered a slug of cal. 45 pistol from the crime scene, said they are looking into the illegal drug angle in the incident. (FREEMAN)
