LTO to transfer licensing center

- Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon -

CEBU, Philippines - The Land Transportation Office-7 is awaiting the approval of the planned transfer of its licensing center from Barangay Looc, Mandaue City.

"Up to now, we are still waiting for the approval sa among head office para mabalhin na ang licensing center," said LTO-7 Regional Director Raul Aguilos.

Those who transact business at the said licensing center complained against the presence of fixers and the deplorable road in front of the building which has been dilapidated for the past years.

Several people interviewed by The Freeman were irritated at the condition of the said licensing center but stated that they have no choice.

"Pwerteng lapuka ang agi-anan. Unya di pa gani ka makagawas sa imong sakyanan, pwerte nang daghanang mga fixers ang magkabayo sa imong sakyanan. Grabe gyud nang dapita. Daku kaayo gibutang sa gate nga no fixers allowed pero kutob ra sa istorya," said Lorelaine Abradaja, a call center agent. (The road is muddy and fixers swarm around you even before you could get out of your car.)

Others were delighted that the licensing center will be transfered to a mall in the city.

"Mas maayo nga ibalhin sa mall kay bugnaw didto. Pwede pa ka magsuroy-suroy samtang nagpaabot ka. Limpyo ang lugar, dili alimuot. Maayo unta madali na ang pag- transfer para kanang mga fixers sa gawas mawagtang sad na sila nga dagku ra ba kaayo og pangayo," said a banker. (It’s best to transfer this to a mall so it would be cooler. I hope they can transfer the center soon.)

A taxi driver also observed that the road in front of the licensing center is very narrow. To make things worse, container vans are allowed to enter the area which contributes to the deplorable condition of the road which is muddy even without rain.

Aguilos said that they have no control over the fixers working outside since most of these people are engaged in commission basis for insurance or drug testing centers.

Aguilos added that the transfer is part of LTO's program to achieve a world-class quality of public service. – (FREEMAN)
