Capitol drops Petron, signs up with Phoenix

-

Governor Garcia also renews contract with Tactical Security Agency

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu Provincial Government has hired a new fuel supplier and security services provider for the different properties, installations and facilities of the province.

A simultaneous signing of contracts was held yesterday between Governor Gwendolyn Garcia and the parties involved.

Garcia entered into a two-year contract with Phoenix Petroleum Philippines, Inc. represented by its sales manager for the Visayas, Ernesto Tagudiña.

The supplier agreed to give the Capitol a discount of P1.30 per liter for diesel while P1.50 for gasoline. The provincial government has an estimated diesel fuel consumption of 36,000 liters per month and 6,000 liters for gasoline.

“As far as the contract is concerned, we just follow the terms of reference and if there is any change, we will discuss it with them later,” Tagudiña said.

Tagudiña refused to disclose its price but he said that it is obvious that they gave better price than the previous supplier.

Garcia made true of her statement last year that she is seriously considering to accept proposal from independent oil player to supply fuel for its vehicles following reports of lower prices than the major oil players in the country.

The Independent Philippine Petroleum Corporation Association (IPPCA) announced that their oil prices in Cebu are already the same or even lower than other parts of the country.

The Province of Cebu has been getting fuel supplies from Petron since the past years.

Meanwhile, Garcia also entered into one-year contract with Tactical Security and Detective Agency, Inc. represented by its president, Joseph Alquizola.

There are two areas identified in the contract where province-owned properties and installations are located.

Area I include the areas located in Cebu City such as the Provincial Capitol Building and premises, Legislative Building, New Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center, Provincial Health Office, Motorpool, Museo Sugbo, Larsian Stalls and Parking Lot; Cebu International Convention Center and Cebu South Bus Terminal.

Area II include other properties in Cebu City and in the municipalities not identified in Area I and all the 16 district hospitals.

There are 77 guards assigned at Area I with contract cost of P12.6 million while 73 guards assigned at Area II with contract cost of P11.3 million.  (FREEMAN)
