CEBU, Philippines - The daughter of the late vice governor Gregorio Sanchez Jr. is not running for any elective position in the May 2013 elections.
Engr. Grecilda “Gigi” Sanchez-Zaballero made the announcement amidst speculations that she is going to continue her father’s political quest. Zaballero led the unveiling of her father’s bust monument in Tuburan town last Friday.
Cebu Vice Governor Agnes Magpale and lawyer Hilario Davide III were among the guests during the activity.
Zaballero said their family will continue to support Davide, her father’s gubernatorial tandem in the May 2010 elections, in the elections to come.
She said Davide was her father’s choice and will continue to be the family’s choice in the next elections.
“He remains to be our choice too,” Zaballero said.
Zaballero is believed to have plans to enter politics after her father’s death following her transfer of registration to Tuburan last year. She said that her transfer of registration should not be given political color.
According to her, it was more of a business purpose because the family owns a farm in Tuburan. Zaballero said she is busy attending their business in Cebu and Davao.
“Basically I can serve even without holding public office,” she said.
Zaballero, however, endorses the tandem of Davide and Magpale for the next elections. Zaballero thanked Magpale for not turning her back when she asked for help after her father’s death.
Today marks the first death anniversary of the late vice governor. (FREEMAN)
