Boy asks Nito to "stop dreaming"

- Jose P. Sollano -

CEBU, Philippines - Danao City Mayor Ramon “Boy” Durano Jr. yesterday asked his brother, Vice Mayor Ramon “Nito” Durano III, to stop dreaming the recall election because that it is already a “dead issue.”

In a radio interview, Mayor Durano said that the lack of time and budget is the reason the Commission on Elections will not continue the recall elections not only in Danao City but also in other places of the country.

“Para nako wala na kanang isyu nga recall, dili nalang unta sila magdamgo pa ana kay di man gyud na mahitabo,” said Mayor Durano. (That will never happen so they should stop dreaming.)

The mayor reiterated his appeal to his brother and members of the city council to support instead his administration in the implementation of projects to benefit the people of Danao City.

According to Mayor Durano, the people of Danao City want them to make true their campaign promise to implement projects.

He cited the pending Water Bulk Project of his administration which was also affected by their misunderstanding.

The city mayor said Vice Mayor Durano should respect the resolution 9374 of the Commission on Elections dated March 7, 2012.

The resolution said that it is no longer feasible to conduct recall election at this point in time considering budgetary constraints and the tedious preparatory activities needed for the conduct of recall elections.”

The camp of Vice Mayor Durano has filed a motion for reconsideration. “Our position is consistent with the law,” City Councilor said John Cane and counsel of Vice Mayor Nito.
