Youth Commission extends deadline to national assembly
CEBU, Philippines - In order to encourage more participants from the youth sector, the National Youth Commission (NYC) extended the applications for the yearly gathering for the 9th National Youth parliament of youth leaders and representatives.
NYC-Visayas area coordinator Rhenelyn Queen Dadulo said the parliament aims to formulate the policy recommendations to address youth issues in the country.
The deadline for the applications for the 9th National Youth Parliament (NYP) has been extended to March 15, 2012.
Dadulo said that around 200 youth leaders representing different youth organizations and youth serving organizations nationwide are expected to participate in this year’s NYP on May 2-6, 2012 in Naga City, Camarines Norte.
This year’s theme is “Revolutionizing Youth Development” and the NYC encourages the youth to join the 9th Youth Parliament. These recommendations will be considered as proposed bills and administrative policies. It includes conducting seminars, trainings and forum regarding NYC advocacies and plans.
The participants will also have the opportunity to share ideas and gain valuable insights to help in the development.
“The National Youth Parliament is a three-day convention of youth leaders, held every two years wherein policy recommendations are formulated to address youth issues and serve as government’s guide in policy formulation and program development,” Dadula said.
Started in 1996, youth leaders gather every two years to share ideas and gain valuable insights and networks to aid them in their youth development efforts.
