Broken-hearted man hangs self

CEBU, Philippines - A lovelorn painter decided to end his life after breaking up with his girlfriend few days ago.

Marvin Alcover, 26, was found dead yesterday morning hanging inside his room at Upper Gun Club in Sitio Banawa Barangay Guadalupe.

Roland Almonte found his best friend dead when he was supposed to wake him up like what he used to do every morning. Alcover used his t-shirts to tie around his neck.

Almonte told homicide investigators that Alcover was heart broken after his longtime girlfriend ended their relationship. Alcover was reportedly drinking heavily before ending his life.

Homicide investigator Ruth Violango said Alcover was last seen by his friends at around 11 p.m. Sunday when they were having a drinking session.

Roldan Ylaya told the police that Alcover was already telling them of his plan to commit suicide while they were having a drinking spree. Ylaya said they tried to convince Alcover not to do it by telling him that his ex-girlfriend was not worthy of his love.

The police retrieved several unsent messages from Alcover’s cellphone expressing his disappointment to his girlfriend.   - (THE FREEMAN)
