2 killed, 4 hurt in 3 accidents

CEBU, Philippines - A couple was injured and landed at the hospital after the motorcycle they were on met an accident near the SRP Baywalk at 2 p.m. yesterday.

Meanwhile, two people were killed, including a nine-year-old boy, in separate towns of Cebu last Friday and Saturday.

Couple Richville Rejoso and Ma. Elena Rejoso, both 34 years old, were on their way to Cebu City onboard a motorcycle when they accidentally hit the rear portion of a pick up driven by 34-year-old Reniel Paran.

PO2 Wilfredo Caparida of Cebu City Traffic Division said the victims fell from their motorcycle and were taken to the Sacred Heart Hospital of the Southwestern University.

“They were traveling in the same direction. Basin kusog sila nagpadagan nya wala ka-break maong nadumbol sa pick up,” Caparida said.

Caparida said Paran, who is assisting the victims at the hospital in terms of financial assistance, was not arrested.

In Barangay Lagundi, Oslob, southern Cebu, Nikko Miguel Oville, a Grade III pupil of Oslob Central School, died after he was hit by a car at 5:30 pm last Friday, January 13.

SPO1 Job Sarveda of Oslob Police Station said the victim was on his way home from school when he met the accident at the national road.

Sarveda said the boy, who rode on a tricycle from school, disembarked from the vehicle upon reaching the road across their house.

The child suddenly crossed the road and was hit by a Mitsubishi Montero Sports. The vehicle, bearing plate numbers SJK-922, was driven by Manuel Yburan, 32, who is temporarily residing at the same barangay.

“Mikalit og tabok ang bata. Kalit ang panghitabo. Aksidente gyud to,” Sarveda said.

Yburan wanted to take the victim to a hospital but the child died along the way.

Sarveda said the victim, the youngest and the only son of his family, succumbed to injuries in the head and the body. .

The police officer said the driver had an initial verbal agreement with the victim’s mother that he would be the one to shoulder the financial expenses.

In Bogo City, 32-year-old Eberth Piamonte also met his untimely death in an accident in Barangay Marangob, Bogo City at past 2 p.m. last Saturday.

Jerome Ugbanin, 20, and his live-in-partner Maria Celeste, 21, who were onboard a motorcycle, suffered from fractures in their bodies, PO3 George Ocena of Bogo City Police Station said.

Piamonte was driving an SRM motorcycle (7082-GJ) on his way to the city proper when the accident happened at a downhill and curved portion of the road.

“Naa ma’y blind curve dihang dapita unya dulhogon. Paspas man ang biktima nagpadagan nya mikawat pud og laing lane,” Ocena said.

Because of the impact of the collision, Piamonte was thrown to a concrete barrier at the left side of the road along with his motorcycle. The victim had severe injuries in the head and fractures in several parts of his body. He died on the spot.

The couple, also residents of Barangay Odlot and who were traveling in the opposite direction, also fell off from their motorcycle. Ugbanin had a fractured leg and thighs and bruised his head while Pepito, Ugbanin’s backrider, also suffered from a broken leg. — (FREEMAN)
