Rep. Osmeña gives P15M for Mambaling roads
CEBU, Philippines - Cebu City Representative Tomas Osmeña pours in P15 million of his Priority Development Assistance Fund to sitio Alaska, Mambaling for the concreting of roads in the area.
The priority area is the Slum Improvement Resettlement (SIR) Program site occupied by urban poor beneficiaries.
Osmeña said his office is now working on the turnover of the money to barangay Mambaling so the barangay can implement the project.
He said that the project will be cheaper if they course the implementation through the barangay. The total project costs roughly P20 million but since it will be implemented by the barangay, it will only cost about P15 million.
Osmeña said his office will help in the creation of the Program of Works and Estimates and in the preparation of other pertinent documents and permits.
Residents of Alaska, Mambaling asked for the improvement of the drainage system but Osmeña said that it is hard to improve the drainage in the area because of its natural topography.
The elevation of the area is below sea level compared to other parts of Mambaling which is why water flows to the area during heavy rains.
Constant flooding in the area easily dilapidate the asphalted road so Osmeña thought concreting is the best and immediate solution to improve the roads in the area for the meantime.
“I can’t solve the drainage in the area so I told them na akong himuong concrete ang roads para inig kawagtang sa tubig, naa lang gihapon ang road,” Osmeña said.
The congressman is also conducting dialogues with other barangays in the South District to determine what infrastructure projects are needed in the barangays. (FREEMAN)
