LTO to launch "Oplan Ligtas na Krismas"

- Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon -

CEBU, Philippines - The Land Transportation Office-7 will launch tomorrow “Oplan Ligtas na Krismas” which will last until January 3, 2011.

This project is in line with the Department of Transportation and Communications DOTC’s action plan to ensure convenient, safe and affordable travels for those who will go around the country this Christmas season.

The implementation of the program is in anticipation of a marked increase in passenger volume this Christmas season. LTO-7 regional director Raul Aguilos said that they will also conduct drug testing among bus drivers at the Cebu Bus terminals.

LTO-7 will also conduct road worthiness tests and give lectures on road safety at identified bus terminals that will start at the Cebu South Bus terminal.

The Land Transportation Franchising Regulatory Board-7 is also joining in the drug testing activity.

“Our traffic enforcers together with other partners will intensify the campaign against violators of traffic laws,” Aguilos further said.  (FREEMAN)
