CCPO to pilot PNP e-Blotter program

- Ryan Christopher J. Sorote -

CEBU, Philippines - As part of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Integrated Transformation Program, the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) was chosen to be the kick-off point for the PNP e-Blotter system among other police offices throughout the region.

This was the good news which CCPO Director Melvin Ramon Buenafe announced yesterday, adding that the said launching will be simultaneous with the inauguration of the new Fuente Police Station on December 14.

No less than Police Director General Nicanor Bartolome will head the two events.

Buenafe said that the new e-Blotter will soon replace the old fashioned way of logging incidents.

With the new system, the police can easily check police records in the fastest manner.

The move will make police records available to officers at the Philippine National Police Headquarters in Camp Crame.

Though with the innovations, the police assure that they will continue to use the old system at par with the new one.

The e-Blotter was also aimed to help police officials to check on how efficient their officers were in addressing various cases.

The police have also assured that their system, which contains controversial information, will be secure and protected from hackers.

By having access to the records, officers from the headquarters can check how quickly police responds to incidents and also to track the progress of investigations.

PNP will also use the e-Blotter as their source of data, for another future innovation, the police clearance system.

The said software was developed by the PNP’s - Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management (DIDM), Information Technology Management System and the Directorate for Information Computer Technology Management.

Aside from the launching of the e-Blotter, CCPO’s newest police station would also be inaugurated during the said event.

The “new” Fuente Police Station will serve as “a new start” after numerous controversies the station experienced within the year. The latest was the mysterious death of a detainee inside their stockade which resulted to the relief of the station chief and several other policemen.

Buenafe said that they will also be assigning new men to the said station. Those who were previously assigned at the old station, however, will be distributed to other stations throughout the city where they are needed most.

The new police station is located just in front of the Police Regional Office – 7, Camp Sergio Osmeña Sr, Osmeña Avenue, Cebu City. (FREEMAN)
