CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu City Prosecutor’s Office recommended no bail for the man who opened fire at his neighbor’s house in Barangay Guba, Cebu City which led to the death of his neighbor’s nine year-old son.
Aside from murder, Junrey Andrecoso is also facing two counts of attempted murder after the victim’s parents sustained gunshot wounds.
Prosecutor Gandhi Truya recommended P400,000 each for Andrecoso’s temporary liberty in two counts of attempted murder but even then, he still faces a non-bailable offense for the boy’s death.
Truya elevated the three cases before the Regional Trial Court after the accused waived his right to undergo preliminary investigation to answer the allegations filed against him.
The accused earlier told the media that he chose not to file his counter-affidavit because he wants to answer all the allegations before the court. Andrecoso said he was never alone in planning the shooting incident which led to the death of Jasper Ceniza, a grade three pupil of Guba Elementary School and wounded the victim’s father Reynaldo Ybañez, and his mother Christina Ceniza during the attack. To recall, the shooting incident happened last November 27 and it all started when Andrecoso’s dog bit Jasper. Andrecoso said that Reynaldo threatened to chop up his dog and this resulted into a heated argument. — (FREEMAN)
