Man shoots wife, lover in Toledo

- Ria Mae Y. Booc -

CEBU, Philippines - Several years of being married was not an assurance for Margel Sayson, 41, that his wife would not look for another lover while he was working abroad to support his family.

Margel can no longer go abroad nor could he support his family now that he is detained at the Toledo City Police Station stockade for shooting his wife, Marissa, 33 and her 23-year-old lover, Christian Galacite who are both confined at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City.

Using an unknown caliber of firearm, Margel allegedly went to Magsaysay Hills, Barangay Poblacion, Toledo City, at about 5:45 in the morning yesterday and shot Marissa, hitting her on the nape, and Galacite on the neck and right arm.

Inspector Bonifacio Lucernas, acting chief of the TCPS, told The FREEMAN that the couple, have not been in good terms for about a year now after rumors reached Margel that Marissa was having an affair with another guy.

When Margel went home last March, the couple decided to separate but the police could not tell if right after, Marissa has been living with Galacite in Magsaysay Hills or if she has just been visiting him. The house where Galacite lives was not so far from the house where Margel lives.

“Distansiya ra gyud na ilang gipuy-an, kung adtuon ngadto magkakita ra gyud,” Lucernas said.

Yesterday, Margel could no longer control his jealousy. He went to Galacite’s house and shot Marissa who was preparing the clothes of Galacite, who was taking a bath.

After a single gunfire rang out, Galacite went outside the bathroom but he was then shot twice by the husband. (FREEMAN)
