Wife catches husband 'molesting' Girl

- Ria Mae Y. Booc -

CEBU, Philippines - An 11-year-old girl was allegedly being molested by a 51-year-old man in Sitio Curva, Barangay San Vicente, Liloan, but was fortunate enough that the man’s wife arrived and stopped the deed.

The suspect was identified as Adriano Mahilom, a backhoe operator and neighbor of the girl. The incident happened around 7pm last Sunday.

The girl was taken to the Don Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City for psychological evaluation.

SPO2 Ernesto Pepito of the Liloan Police Station said Mahilom allegedly called the girl who was playing nearby and asked if she already had her menstruation to which the girl replied no. Mahilom also allegedly asked the girl if her breasts have started to grow bigger to which the girl replied yes. It was allegedly at this point when Mahilom took the girl to an uninhabited place and started molesting her.

It so happened that Mahilom’s wife, Fina, was looking for her husband and chanced upon the two and saw what Mahilom was doing to the girl.

Surprised to see his wife, Mahilom immediately let go of the girl, which gave the girl the chance to run home and inform her mother of the incident. The girl’s mother subsequently reported the matter to the police station.

“Nangita ang asawa kay gabie na unya giadto niya sa tambayanan wala man diha siya’y nakit-an nga tao sa ka-libunan unya didto iyang nasakpan,” Pepito said.

On the same night, SPO3 Winrie Pilapil of the Women’s and Children’s Protection Desk of the Liloan Police Station accompanied the girl’s mother and arrested Mahilom at his residence.

Charges for acts of lasciviousness in relation to Republic Act 7610 or the anti-child abuse law are expected to be filed against Mahilom today.  (FREEMAN)
