'Pajero Bishop' slams admin for picking on GMA
CEBU, Philippines - Most Rev. Juan de Dios Pueblos, of the diocese of Butuan, would still love those who want to destroy him and his colleagues who were involved in the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office controversy.
Pueblos, who was among those tagged as “Pajero Bishops”, said that even if he was persecuted by many people, he is happy seeing God as his only hope.
“With His presence I could answer questions with a light heart and love those who want to destroy us,” he said.
Pueblos who was among the guests of honor during the 19th founding anniversary of the Indiana Aerospace University yesterday, pointed out that the problem of the controversy is the government’s focus which is only on the negative aspects of Pres. Gloria Arroyo’s administration.
“They are trying only to focus on Gloria.” he said.
He added that he goes for Gloria because of the improvements she has done to Caraga like the construction of roads and bridges.
“Not for loyalty alone because we are not a political entity but those are the reasons why we are for her,” he said.
The Commission on Audit confirmed that PCSO purchased five vehicles worth P6.94 million that were given to Catholic Church archdioceses.
COA said this is a violation of the Constitution, which states that no public funds should be appropriated for the benefit of any church, sect or denomination.
Aside from answering questions about the controversy, Pueblos also preached the call of the church in defending life and family from the Reproductive Health Bill (RH Bill).
During his homily at the St. Therese Chapel of the IAU, Pueblos claimed that RH Bill is against the Filipino culture which could destroy the union of the family.
“This is not just our obligation but your obligation,” he said, thanking the Cebuanos for supporting the church and defending against the bill. — (FREEMAN)
