CEBU, Philippines - Five people were injured in separate stabbing incidents in Cebu City and Carcar last Wednesday.
One of the five victims remains in critical condition after he and two others engaged in a stabbing rampage at sitio Lower Tawog, Barangay Valladolid Carcar.
Arnel Alesna, 40, is in critical condition at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center after he was stabbed by his relative Timoteo Campaña, 27, Wednesday evening following an altercation he had with the suspect’s younger brother Trainy, 26.
It was Alesna who allegedly stabbed Trainy first prompting Timoteo to seek revenge for his brother.
Senior Police Officer 1 Reynaldo Fuentes of the Carcar Police Station said that Alesna and the Campaña brothers were having a drinking session at the house of another relative when a misunderstanding occurred between Alesna and Trainy.
The heated argument ended up with Alesna stabbing Trainy prompting Timoteo to seek revenge. Though Timoteo was able to stab Alesna but he was also injured in the process when the latter tried to grapple for the knife.
The three were immediately rushed to Carcar District Hospital but Alesna was later transferred to VSMMC because of his serious condition.
The police said Timoteo was previously convicted for homicide and was jailed at the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa for eight years. He was released from prison only last November.
“Bag-o lang gani siya nakagawas karon matanggong na pud ni siya,” Fuentes said.
Timoteo is now detained at the police stockade after he was released from the hospital. The police are already preparing criminal complaint for frustrated homicide against him.
