4 DOST execs get ASEAN certification
CEBU, Philippines - The members of the Department of Science and Technology-Energy Audit Team in Central Visayas were recently recognized for having achieved the energy manager certification from the ASEAN Energy Management Scheme (AEMAS).
The team members who were given individual certificates as recognition of their achievements are Engr. Edilberto Paradela, Engr. Juan Edgar Osorio, Engr. Roberto Edra, and Engr. Jose Mari Bigornia.
The recognition was held during the launching of AEMAS, the world’s first regional certification system for energy managers and end-users at the Manila hotel.
The certificate serves as recognition in their fulfillment of all obligations under the AEMAS. The certificates were awarded to them by Christopher Zamora, acting director of ASEAN Centre for Energy and Ernesto Casis, AEMAS director in the Philippines.
As an AEMAS certified energy manager, they will be able to implement a sustainable energy management system with the additional benefits of achieving real and measurable energy savings, Carbon Dioxide emission reductions and make their companies eligible to acquire the Energy Management Gold Standard (EMGS) certification.
“This is another achievement that we can boast,” Paradela said.
Paradela said they intend to undergo training in order to further enhance their skills and competence so that they can also be at par with other ASEAN countries that have been practicing energy efficiency and conservation measures.
“The certification is obtained after completing the three-day lecture conducted by AEMAS certified-trainers and able to get above 90 percent score of the classroom-type test,” Paradela added.
Funded by the European Union under the Switch-Asia Program, the AEMAS is currently being implemented by the ASEAN Center for Energy in eight ASEAN member states namely, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. — (FREEMAN)
