2 cops positive in random drug test

- Ria Mae Y. Booc -

CEBU, Philippines - Two cops were found positive in the random drug tests conducted by the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO).

The initial results, though, need to be finalized through confirmatory tests.

The two police officers were from Asturias and Tuburan towns.

The policeman from Tuburan has been relieved and is being investigated by the Provincial Investigation and Detective Management Branch for an administrative case.

Superintendent Teofilo Siclot, Deputy Provincial Director for Operation, refused to disclose their names until the results are confirmed.

Jude Mendoza of the Philippine National Police Crime Laboratory-7, who conducted the drug test, told The FREEMAN that the policeman’s urine sample reacted to the component of the drug testing kit.

Mendoza said they still have to determine the substance found in the samples and that it takes a week before the result is confirmed. — (FREEMAN)
